Geo-fencing Based Disaster Management Service

چکیده
The success of disaster handling often depends on the efficient flow of information. The social media and networks receive a growing attention as potential source of valuable data in disaster scenarios. The social network based information flow is real-time, direct, two-directional and often geo-tagged. Unfortunately, besides these obvious advantages, social network data suffers from drawbacks: it is unstructured, dispersed and lacks reliability. This paper proposes an approach based on combining a geo-fencing technology with social network platform to combat this problem and deliver a novel service for disaster management. The service groups users ad-hoc based on their location. Social network features allow users to exchange real-time information, coordinate rescue efforts, issue and report tasks. The geo-fences are visualized to provide a good overview of the disaster zone. The service was evaluated by disaster management experts, with an encouraging feed-

Indoor/outdoor determination method using various sensors for the power saving of terminals in Geo-fencing
Recently, various services using the location information are developed with the wide spread of smartphones. Geo-fencing is one of the services. In Geo-fencing services, terminals automatically carry out the some processing associated with the virtual border when they detect that themselves passes the border. However, it is a problem that power saving of Geo-fencing service covering over indoor...
متن کاملA Sensor Web and Web Service-Based Approach for Active Hydrological Disaster Monitoring
Rapid advancements in Earth-observing sensor systems have led to the generation of large amounts of remote sensing data that can be used for the dynamic monitoring and analysis of hydrological disasters. The management and analysis of these data could take advantage of distributed information infrastructure technologies such as Web service and Sensor Web technologies, which have shown great pot...

Many of modern location-based services are often based on an area or place as opposed to an accurate determination of the precise location. Geo-fencing approach is based on the observation that users move from one place to another and then stay at that place for a while. These places can be, for example, commercial properties, homes, office centers and so on. As per geo-fencing approach they co...
متن کاملA Multi-Agent Approach to assess Geospatial Interoperability for Disaster Management in India
The data produced and consumed during emergency and disaster management is inherently spatial in nature, with a high probability of information deluge. Disaster management process are time and safety-critical and requires processes and data standards which are inter-operable. The Open Geo-spatial Consortium provides specifications for geo-spatial data, of which WFS, WMS, GML, GeoXaCML and GeoSM...
متن کاملA Volunteered Geographic Information Framework to Enable Bottom-Up Disaster Management Platforms
Recent disasters, such as the 2010 Haiti earthquake, have drawn attention to the potential role of citizens as active information producers. By using location-aware devices such as smartphones to collect geographic information in the form of geo-tagged text, photos, or videos, and sharing this information through online social media, such as Twitter, citizens create Volunteered Geographic Infor...
